Sportradar Sells Synergy Sports Coaching Unit for $170M

Sportradar Sells Synergy Sports Coaching Unit for $170M
Sportradar is selling its Synergy Sports coaching and scouting business, but some of the technology developed for it will stay. Teamworks Innovations has agreed to pay $170 million in cash for Atrium Sports, with the deal expected to close before the end of 2026.

The sale was announced on October 7. Sportradar wants to concentrate on betting, gaming and media rather than running a business that primarily serves sports teams.

Synergy’s Video Technology Stays With Sportradar

Synergy is used for performance analysis in basketball and baseball. Its coaching and scouting operations will move to Teamworks, which develops software for teams and athletes.

Sportradar is keeping automated video cameras, graphics systems, certain computer-vision capabilities and competition-management products. These are already used elsewhere in the company.

“The proceeds will further strengthen our balance sheet and support capital allocation priorities,” said Sportradar CEO Carsten Koerl.

Sportradar described the sale price as an attractive double-digit EBITDA multiple compared with its own market valuation. It did not publish Atrium’s standalone EBITDA, however, so the exact multiple cannot be calculated from the announcement.

The Numbers Behind the Sale

There’s a noticeable gap between Sportradar’s main business and its smaller sports performance operation. In its second-quarter financial report, Sports Performance revenue was €10.6 million, down 13% from a year earlier. Betting Technology & Solutions brought in €313.6 million, an increase of 21%. Overall revenue reached €377.8 million, up 19%.

That puts Sports Performance at just 2.8% of quarterly revenue. Betting Technology & Solutions accounted for roughly 83%.

The comparison has limits. Sports Performance includes more than Atrium, and currency movements were a major reason for the revenue decline. Still, the figures show how much larger Sportradar’s betting operations have become.

What Happens Next?

Sportradar has recently expanded its iGaming offering through Playradar, adding casino products to a portfolio already built around sports data and sportsbook services. Atrium, meanwhile, will move to an owner whose business is more closely tied to teams and athletes.

The agreement covers the sale of Atrium Sports rather than all of Synergy’s technology. Closing is planned for Q4 2026, subject to customary conditions. Neither company has announced a specific completion date.
