Neosurf enters Swiss market with cash-to-digital payments for online gambling

Payment provider targets underserved cash players in competitive Swiss iGaming market

Neosurf has officially launched in Switzerland. The London-based payment provider specialises in cash-to-digital solutions for online gambling.

Swiss operators had been asking for this service. They felt the market wasn’t serving cash-based players properly.

The company already works through local partners. Sweepay handles distribution at SBB rail kiosks, while the TWINT app provides digital access.

Cash still dominates Swiss iGaming. A reported 67% of transactions use cash-based methods.

“The exciting thing about entering the Swiss market is that Neosurf is addressing a demand from cash-based users that’s currently underserved,” said Andrea McGeachin, Neosurf’s Global CEO.

Switzerland’s regulatory environment is tough. But operators were calling for better cash payment options.

The competitive landscape made entry challenging. Neosurf had to get regulatory approval first.

The service includes pre-paid vouchers and digital wallet options. Players can buy these at retail locations or through partner apps.

But it’s more than basic payments. Neosurf provides built-in AML compliance tools and responsible gambling features.

“We believe the role of a payments company is about more than just providing simple deposits and withdrawals,” McGeachin explained. The company also offers ongoing compliance support.

McGeachin added: “The exciting thing about entering the Swiss market is that Neosurf is addressing a demand from cash-based users that’s currently underserved.”

Retail points of sale will expand through local partnerships. This makes cash-to-digital conversion easier for players.

Neosurf plans to add more operator partnerships over the coming months. Each will get fully localised language settings and support tools.

The cash-handling expertise gives them an edge. “We know how to handle cash for online deposits in a safe, secure and traceable manner that ensures AML standards and prevents fraud. This is increasingly becoming a unique advantage for us in markets where cash features heavily.” McGeachin noted.

Rodolphe Texier, CEO of SweePay, welcomed the partnership. “We are delighted to welcome Neosurf to our growing portfolio of digital products in Switzerland.”

Texier added: “By partnering with innovative companies like Neosurf, we continue to expand the range of convenient and responsible payment options available to Swiss users – both online and at the point of sale.”

The launch addresses a specific gap. Swiss players who prefer cash now have secure digital options.

More partnerships are on the way. Neosurf wants to make their services easier to access across Switzerland’s regulated market.

Last month, the company made a similar expansion into Mexico by partnering with Fun88 to roll out cash-based payment solutions for the region’s sports betting market. What both expansion efforts share is that Neosurf is expanding its offering of frictionless transactions, including KYC and AML compliance tools.
