Brazil Court Suspends Stake Reprieve After 31 Hours

On October 8, Judge Cristiane Farias Rodrigues dos Santos of São Paulo’s 9th Federal Civil Court granted Stake temporary relief. As 15M reported, the order preserved the company’s authorisation under SPA/MF Ordinance 263/2025 until October 25.
Stake had asked to retain its licence through December 2029. The judge rejected that request but agreed to protect its operations for a shorter period. She also imposed 12 conditions, including a ban on new bonus campaigns and requirements covering player verification, withdrawals and regulatory reporting.
31 Hours Between Two Court Orders
The two judicial documents show how quickly that protection disappeared. The first order was signed electronically on October 8 at 11:35:06. The TRF-3 suspension carries a signature dated October 9 at 18:59:49.
The two orders were signed roughly 31 hours apart.
The Government Challenged Stake’s Exception
The federal government took the October 8 injunction to TRF-3. Its objection concerned enforcement: betting sites across Brazil had been ordered offline, but Stake had obtained permission to continue operating. The government also warned that other bookmakers could seek similar exceptions.
Stake submitted its own response, asking the court to reject the suspension request. TRF-3 President Luis Antonio Johonsom di Salvo ruled against the operator.
His October 9 decision suspended the injunction. The court did not decide whether the nationwide betting ban was constitutional.
