Sergey Portnov Steps Back From Parimatch Operations

The change goes beyond a standard executive departure. Portnov will no longer manage Parimatch, while parts of the business are moving toward local partners and a separate structure is being considered for the remaining assets.
Parimatch Is Preparing a Wider Control Transfer
The transition was announced in a September 10 release from SP Ventures. It said deals with local operating partners are being finalized as Parimatch moves into its next phase.
More detail came in a sponsored Business Insider article supplied by SP Ventures. It said some of the partner agreements are already at an advanced stage and that teams are preparing a plan to transfer operational management of the remaining assets to a foundation or trust under a full transfer of control.
Portnov has spent more than a decade with Parimatch and previously served as its CEO. Explaining the move, he said his interests had expanded “beyond a single industry and the management of one business.”
The operational handover is the important part for Parimatch partners. This is not simply a new title for Portnov: responsibility for running the brand is being redistributed across its markets while control of the remaining assets is prepared for a separate structure.
SP Ventures Takes Portnov Beyond iGaming
Portnov will now lead SP Ventures as founder and chairman. The firm plans to combine investment with hands-on strategic support and will take equity in companies it helps grow rather than operating as a conventional fee-based consultancy.
Its target sectors include technology and education, with both early-stage and established companies under consideration. The portfolio already includes Cyprus-based Trinity Private School, and SP Ventures expects to announce further investments in the coming months.
Parimatch Has Not Set a Handover Date
The two announcements leave several parts of the transition open. Parimatch has not named the local operating partners or given a date for completing the deals.
Neither announcement names a single successor to Portnov. Local operations are being moved toward partner arrangements, while the remaining assets are set to come under a different management structure.
The next update should come as those agreements are completed. Details of the foundation or trust mentioned for the remaining assets have not been disclosed.
