Kalshi Sets $2,500 Default Deposit Limit for Young Traders

The company’s announcement covers accounts belonging to customers who are old enough to trade on Kalshi but too young to use most licensed US sportsbooks. The measures will roll out over the coming days.
Deposits Above $2,500 Are Still Possible
The monthly figure is a starting limit rather than a fixed ceiling. According to Barron’s, customers can adjust it or opt out.
Once deposits reach $2,500, further payments involve additional checks. Users will be shown their monthly deposit totals and profit-and-loss figures. Cooling-off periods are also part of the process.
Kalshi has not disclosed how many customers in this age group currently deposit more than $2,500 per month.
A $300 Trade Could Bring Up a Warning
The other change concerns individual trades. New traders with account balances above $1,000 will receive an alert if they commit more than a quarter of their funds to one position.
For someone holding $1,200, that means a warning on a trade exceeding $300. A $300 order would sit exactly at the 25% threshold. Kalshi describes the notification as advice to diversify, not an automatic trading block.
Parents Can Receive Trading Alerts
Kalshi is also preparing guides with Parent ProTech and ConnectSafely. Its existing Inner Circle tool lets relatives receive alerts about how much and how often young customers trade.
At 18, customers can legally open a Kalshi account. Identity checks are used to keep minors off the platform. For those aged 18 to 20, the company is now adding extra controls over deposits and trading.
