Crown Coins Leads Sweepstakes Searches in 34 US States as Demand Falls
Crown Coins led Blask's sweepstakes search-demand rankings in 34 US states in September, compared with 23 in June. Chumba Casino, which had held the national lead for almost two years, went from topping 13 states to just eight.

The figures come from Blask’s October 7 analysis. Crown Coins overtook Chumba in June and has stayed ahead ever since. By September, its lead over Chumba on the Blask Index had widened to 53%, against 15% three months earlier.

Yet overall search demand for US sweepstakes casinos fell 7% between June and September. The market wasn’t expanding alongside its new leader.

Crown Coins Widens Its State-Level Advantage

The state-level figures make the widening gap easier to see. In June, Crown Coins led Chumba by 10 states. By September, that difference had reached 26 states. That’s a 16-state widening in three months, based on the counts published by Blask.

Chumba’s search demand held relatively steady until September, when it dipped. Crown Coins, meanwhile, continued pulling ahead throughout the period.

The September figures put Crown Coins at 18.3% of US sweepstakes search demand. That represents its share of the search activity tracked by Blask, not its share of casino revenue or registered players.

Illinois Remains Among Crown Coins’ Strongholds

Illinois is one of the states where Crown Coins topped the September rankings. Blask estimates that the brand accounted for 19.1% of sweepstakes search demand there.

That comes despite enforcement action earlier this year. The Illinois Gaming Board issued 65 cease-and-desist letters in February, including notices to Crown Coins and Chumba. Operators were instructed to stop offering unlicensed online gambling to Illinois residents. The campaign formed part of a wider crackdown, previously covered by 15M.

Florida has also moved against the sector. In September, Attorney General James Uthmeier sent letters to five advertising platforms, including Google and Meta. The companies have until October 23 to explain how they are preventing ads for named sweepstakes operators from reaching Florida residents.

The Other Side of the State Rankings

Although Crown Coins holds a strong position in terms of search demand, the situation becomes more complicated once state regulators join in. Illinois has taken direct action against casinos, while in Florida, the focus is on the online platforms that are carrying sweepstakes casino ads.

Pressure comes from different sides even as Crown Coins widens its lead in searches.
