Brazil Betting Sites Go Dark as Shutdown Takes Effect

Sportingbet, Betnacional, Esportes da Sorte and Superbet were redirecting users to the government’s Brasil sem Bets page shortly after midnight. Betano showed its own unavailable-service notice, while KTO also confirmed that its platform was offline, according to UOL’s post-deadline check.
Refunds Start After the Shutdown
The October 6 shutdown was part of the transition timetable published by the Finance Ministry. Players had until 23:59 on October 5 to withdraw funds directly. After that cutoff, the affected sites and apps were due to become unavailable.
Money left in player accounts now moves into a separate refund process. Banks are expected to return those balances between October 9 and 14, with unresolved cases later handled by Caixa Econômica Federal.
App Stores Face the Same Deadline
Apple and Google also face an October 6 deadline to remove 186 betting apps identified by the authorities. The figure had already been announced before the shutdown, but the removal date itself has now arrived. An official count of how many apps had actually disappeared was not yet available early on October 6.
Affiliates may want to verify which programs still accept Brazilian traffic, given the recent shutdown. A relevant list can be found in 15M’s affiliate program directory.
Blocking List Doubled Before the Cutoff
The wider blocking list was moving just as fast. The Justice Ministry said 10,435 illegal betting sites had been sent for blocking by October 1, up from 5,209 two days earlier. The list had effectively doubled in 48 hours.
That enforcement list is separate from the betting sites affected by the October 6 shutdown.
The legal fight is still open. Fux did not suspend the measure before the deadline, and industry groups are still challenging it in the Supreme Court. Congress is also still considering MP 1,394/2026, with amendments allowed until October 13.
