codere-italia”>What is Codere Italia
Codere is a Spanish group founded in 1980 in Madrid. Initially, the company focused on slot machines, and later expanded into sports betting, casinos, and bingo halls.
Codere has been operating in Italy since 2000. It started with land-based terminals and venues, and in 2025, the company obtained an ADM license and launched the online platform Codere.it. This is Codere’s first European market outside of Spain. Obtaining the ADM license cost the company €7 million. By comparison, under the previous licensing model, the cost was €200,000. Microgame provides the technological backbone for Codere Italia.
Roberto Russo, Director of Online Operations at Codere Italia, said that choosing the right content partners for the debut in the Italian market was of paramount importance. According to him, Yggdrasil was a perfect fit.
What is Yggdrasil
Yggdrasil is a gaming content provider founded in 2013. The company operates in 28 licensed jurisdictions and is developing an ecosystem of partner studios through the YGG Masters program. Under this program, independent developers create games under the Yggdrasil brand, utilizing its technologies and distribution channels. This benefits both young development teams and Yggdrasil itself through a steady stream of releases.
The brand is currently working to strengthen its position in Italy, as well as in Brazil, where it already works with 14 local partners.
Yggdrasil in Italy
Yggdrasil is actively working to establish a foothold in the Italian market. In February 2026, the company signed agreements with three operators at once: DAZN Bet Italy, E-Play24, and Domus Bet. Earlier, in August 2025, Yggdrasil entered into a partnership with Bet365 in Italy. According to the company, by the time of the deal with Codere, Yggdrasil was already working with 14 operators in the Italian market.
Giovanni Fodera, Yggdrasil’s account manager for the Italian market, calls Italy a market of immense importance for the company. According to him, the deal with Codere is a very important step toward strengthening the brand’s reputation and expanding its presence in the country.
Why This Matters
The Italian online gambling market is one of the largest in Europe. At the same time, it is one of the most difficult to enter due to the stringent requirements set by ADM. They scrutinize all content and licensing, and obtaining an online license is now much more expensive than before. Nevertheless, major operators recognize the importance of this market and continue to enter it. In the latest tender, the ADM approved 46 applications from major companies, including Bet365, William Hill, and Snaitech.
The partnership with Yggdrasil is very important for Codere, as the company has just launched its online platform and is currently building its game catalog. Adding a provider with recognizable games accelerates the process.
For Yggdrasil, this is further confirmation that its strategy of operating through Microgame in Italy is paying off, as in just a few months the provider has grown from zero to 14 operators in one of Europe’s most competitive markets.
