Octoplay has signed with BetMGM to enter New Jersey’s regulated iGaming market. The partnership marks the European slot provider’s first active operation in the United States.
BetMGM operates iGaming and sports betting platforms across multiple US states. The companies previously worked together in Ontario, where Octoplay launched a customised version of its Jackpot Blitz system.
Octoplay holds a provisional license in Michigan alongside its New Jersey entry. The company operates in eleven other jurisdictions including the UK, Sweden, Malta, Greece, Romania, Slovakia, Denmark, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands.
New Jersey operates the largest regulated iGaming market in the United States by revenue. The state’s market generated significant operator revenues since launching online casino games in 2013.
The partnership builds on the companies’ existing relationship in Ontario. That market allowed both companies to test their integration before entering the US.
New Jersey’s regulatory structure requires operators to partner with Atlantic City casinos. BetMGM operates through its partnership with Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
The state maintains strict licensing requirements for game suppliers. Octoplay completed the regulatory approval process to offer its content through licensed operators.
The agreement allows BetMGM to offer Octoplay’s slot portfolio to New Jersey players. Integration will use existing technical connections established during their Ontario collaboration.
“Our New Jersey launch with BetMGM represents a key milestone in our North American strategy,” says Ralitsa Georgieva, Octoplay’s Director of Business Development. “This partnership connects our content with players in the largest U.S. iGaming market.”
Oliver Bartlett, VP of Gaming at BetMGM, stated: “We are pleased to partner with Octoplay for their U.S. debut. Based on the strong performance in other markets and Octoplay’s premium game portfolio, we are confident the content will be a success in New Jersey.”
The partnership includes Octoplay’s existing slot titles. Specific games and launch timeline details weren’t disclosed in the announcement.
New Jersey entry positions Octoplay for potential expansion into other regulated US states. The company’s Michigan provisional license could facilitate future market entries.
Several US states have launched or are considering iGaming legislation. Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Connecticut and Delaware currently operate regulated online casino markets.
The partnership gives Octoplay an operating history in US regulated markets. This experience may help with future state licensing applications and operator partnerships.
Octoplay plans to accelerate its North American expansion during 2025. The company didn’t specify which additional states or operators it might target.
The US iGaming market continues expanding as more states consider online casino legislation. Octoplay’s entry adds another European supplier to the growing competitive landscape.
Last month, Octoplay signed a deal with Danske Spil, Denmark’s national operator. The deal followed Octoplay’s earlier integrations with Jacks.nl in the Netherlands and Svenska Spel in Sweden.
