Buffalo Chip Casino Hotel Planned for Development in Southern Nevada

A partnership between Sturgis Buffalo Chip and Buffalo Chip Global was announced on July 10

Buffalo Chip Global and The Sturgis Buffalo Chip announced a partnership on July 10. The agreement will result in the development of a Buffalo Chip casino-hotel in southern Nevada.

Mark Advent serves as Buffalo Chip Global Founder. He will oversee the property’s development.

Advent previously played an integral role in developing the New York New York hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip. This experience positions him to lead the new project.

Rod Woodruff founded The Sturgis Buffalo Chip. He partnered with Advent to expand the Buffalo Chip brand beyond its South Dakota origins.

Advent said joining forces with Woodruff and his family represents “a dream” opportunity. He described The Chip as more than just a place, calling it “an unparalleled feeling.”

The Buffalo Chip embodies “music, motorcycles, freedom and friends,” according to Advent. These represent the four pillars on which the brand is rooted.

Buffalo Chip Global plans to develop branded destinations that capture the same feeling of freedom and camaraderie. Millions of people have experienced this atmosphere over the years at the original location.

Woodruff said starting The Chip was about “creating a home for people who live for the ride.” The partnership aims to turn that spirit into a year-round experience.

The casino-hotel will feature a barn-themed casino design. This reflects the Buffalo Chip’s motorcycle rally heritage and rural aesthetic.

A 200-room hotel will accommodate guests visiting the property. The development also includes guest entertainment spaces for events and activities.

Plans call for a pedestrian thoroughfare with retail shops, dining, and entertainment options. This creates a comprehensive destination experience beyond just gaming.

The agreement includes the launch of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip Roadhouse. This restaurant and bar will serve guests at the new property.

The property’s site in southern Nevada is still undergoing due diligence and planning. Advent confirmed that specific location details remain under review.

Deal discussions are “progressing positively” according to Advent. The companies continue working through development and financing arrangements.

Advent’s experience with major Las Vegas developments provides operational knowledge for the project. His involvement with New York New York offers relevant expertise for southern Nevada’s gaming market.

The partnership leverages The Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s brand recognition with Buffalo Chip Global’s development capabilities. This combination aims to create a unique gaming and entertainment destination.

Construction timelines and opening dates have not been announced. The companies appear focused on completing due diligence before finalising development schedules.

Last month, Nevada’s gaming revenue for May 2025 was released, totalling $1.29bn, down 2.18% year-on-year. This downturn in revenue marks the state’s third consecutive monthly decline.
