BetBoom’s 17% Betting Growth Came With a Smaller Hold

Betting handle rose 17.3% year on year. Payouts climbed 18.2%, leaving gross gaming revenue (GGR) with a smaller increase of 14.2%.
Company president Yuri Ermantraut presented the results on November 3. The figures were reported by journalists covering the event, rather than drawn from a published financial statement.
The Nine-Month Numbers
The figures appeared in RB Business and were subsequently covered by Sports.ru. For January-September 2026, compared with the same months of 2025:
- Betting handle reached approximately $2.54 billion, up from $2.16 billion;
- Customer payouts increased to $1.99 billion from $1.68 billion;
- GGR rose to $549.6 million from $481.1 million.
The amounts are converted using the Bank of Russia’s official exchange rate for November 3, 2026, at 80.9734 per US dollar. The same rate is used for both reporting periods; the growth percentages come from the original figures.
More Bets, Less GGR per Wager
There is a difference between growing betting volume and keeping the same share of it. Based on BetBoom’s figures, 15M calculates that the bookmaker’s gross hold fell from 22.26% in January–September 2025 to 21.68% in the first nine months of 2026.
That 0.59-percentage-point gap looks modest. Applied to the latest betting handle, however, the previous year’s hold rate would have produced around $564.5 million in GGR. BetBoom actually reported $549.6 million – about $14.9 million less.
The calculation puts the change in hold into dollar terms. A closer look at betting outcomes and wager mix could help explain the shift, while marketing costs and taxes would be needed to assess profitability.
BetBoom still generated more GGR than a year earlier. How much of that additional revenue reached the bottom line remains unclear.
