Visualize Group Acquires eCOGRA and Strengthens Its Position in Testing and Certification

The purchase adds another company that checks games and handles compliance to the group’s portfolio. This points to more consolidation in a part of the industry that usually stays behind operators and content studios. These firms decide, in practice, which games reach regulated markets. Their sign-off remains a basic step before any release goes live.
Terms and Parties to the Transaction
The buyer here is a private investment group. Visualize Group has agreed to buy eCOGRA, a provider of testing, inspection, certification, and compliance work for iGaming that Hanover Investors Management owns at present.
The leadership stays in place. eCOGRA will keep running under its CEO, Will Shuckburgh. So the buyer keeps the current team and leaves the business as it stands right after the deal closes.
Part of a Broader Strategy
The acquisition of eCOGRA is not an isolated move. Earlier, in March, Visualize completed the acquisition of BMM Testlabs, another company in the testing and certification sector. The group now controls two players in this segment.
The company noted that BMM Testlabs and eCOGRA bring complementary strengths to the table. In practice, this allows the group to combine different areas of expertise and offer operators a broader range of services from a single source.
Why the Testing Segment Is Important
Companies such as eCOGRA and BMM Testlabs verify that games and systems are fair and comply with regulations and technical standards. Without their certifications, content is often barred from regulated markets. Regulators in various countries require independent verification, so the demand for such services is growing along with the number of licensed markets.
When a single investment group acquires players in this segment, it shifts the balance of power. Operators and providers have fewer independent suppliers to choose from, but the consolidated entity has greater resources and reach. This segment rarely makes headlines, but it is precisely what determines which games actually make it to the legal market.
Bottom Line
The deal shows that consolidation in the iGaming industry has reached the infrastructure layer and is not limited to operators. Visualize is acquiring companies that act as intermediaries between developers and regulators. Two acquisitions in just a few months point to a clear goal of building a major player in testing and certification. The extent to which this will strengthen the group will depend on how operators react to the reduction in the number of independent laboratories on the market.
