Sports betting and iGaming turnover in Connecticut reached $2.05 billion in July
Connecticut’s combined sports betting and iGaming market recorded a turnover of $2.05 billion in July 2026, representing a 13% year-on-year increase. The figures were published by the state’s Department of Consumer Protection (DCP), based on monthly reports from tribal operators. Growth was driven by several market segments, including slots, online casinos and sports betting.

The state collected over $31 million in contributions from tribal gambling operations in July. The Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes submit this data to the DCP on a monthly basis, and both reported month-on-month growth across three categories: slots, online sports betting and online casinos.

How licences are allocated in the state

There are only three licensed online gambling operators in Connecticut. DraftKings operates through a partnership with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, FanDuel operates through Mohegan, and the third operator is Fanatics Sportsbook. Individual commercial operators are not permitted to operate directly in the state. The entire structure is based on partnerships with the two tribal casinos and the Connecticut Lottery Corporation.

Slots at Foxwoods, the Mashantucket Pequot tribe’s casino, generated $32.9 million in revenue in July, of which the state received approximately $8.3 million in levies. However, the Mashantucket Pequot saw a year-on-year decline in almost all categories, with the exception of online casinos, whilst Mohegan recorded growth across all three areas.

According to other industry sources, sports betting turnover in July totalled around $181.3 million, which is 46.8% higher than a year earlier; however, revenue remained at $13.3 million, virtually matching the figures for the two previous Julys. Such a discrepancy between growth in turnover and stable revenue usually indicates a higher payout percentage to players during the month.

State tax regime

Connecticut applies a tax rate of 18% on gross gaming revenue from iGaming and 13.75% on sports betting, which is considered one of the more competitive rates amongst US states. In the previous financial year, from July 2024 to June 2025, total gaming revenue exceeded $761 million, with the iGaming segment alone generating $537.4 million in revenue, representing a 32.3% increase year-on-year.

Context of growth

Connecticut’s performance fits into the broader picture of online gambling growth across the US during 2026. The state’s market remains one of the most active in the north-eastern region of the country, and the stable regulatory framework gives licensed operators the confidence to invest in product development and marketing without sudden changes to the rules.
