The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation introduced its “PAGCOR Guarantee” website on June 18. Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco announced the platform’s launch during a press briefing.
PAGCOR operates as the Philippines’ state gaming regulator. The agency oversees licensed gambling operators throughout the country.
The regulator cited increasing complaints about illegal online gaming sites. These unlicensed operators often fail to pay player winnings, according to PAGCOR’s statements.
“Illegal online gaming sites not only endanger players but also erode public trust and deprive the government of vital revenues,” Tengco stated. The agency reported growing numbers of complaints against gaming sites that don’t pay winnings.
Fraudulent gaming platforms have proliferated in recent months. These sites appear legitimate but lack proper licensing from Philippine authorities.
PAGCOR said the verification tool addresses player protection concerns. The agency wants to provide a way for people to check operator legitimacy before depositing money.
The PAGCOR Guarantee site displays a regularly updated list of licensed internet gaming platforms under PAGCOR oversight.
Users can search for specific gaming operators to verify their licensing status. The platform also allows direct access to legitimate gaming sites through links on the page.
“This new website will help our players easily identify and verify whether the online gaming sites are duly licensed before playing or making any payments,” Tengco said.
The database includes all current PAGCOR-licensed internet gaming operators. PAGCOR updates the list regularly as new licenses are issued or existing ones expire.
The verification system represents part of PAGCOR’s broader regulatory enforcement efforts. The agency has intensified campaigns against unlicensed gaming operations.
“By providing the public with a quick and accessible way to check a site’s legitimacy, we are empowering them to make informed decisions and avoid falling victim to fraudsters and scammers,” Tengco explained.
PAGCOR positioned the platform as a component of its regulatory framework. The agency stated it aims to protect both industry participants and Filipino players.
The regulator encouraged players to verify gaming platforms before engaging in online gambling activities. Tengco specifically mentioned the growing complaint volume regarding non-paying gaming sites.
This verification tool gives players a government-backed reference for checking operator credentials. Previously, players had limited ways to verify whether gaming sites held proper Philippine licenses.
Earlier this month, the Philippine regulator made a donation worth around $285,000 for patient transport vehicles to be deployed in eight towns across Palawan and Luzon, as part of its efforts to expand its corporate social responsibility programme.
The chairman commented on the donation, stating that it aims to help bridge the healthcare access gap seen in isolated and neglected areas.
