Nederlandse Loterij completes Lotify acquisition

Nederlandse Loterij completes Lotify acquisition
Dutch lottery operator gains full ownership of fundraising platform after four years as majority stakeholder

Nederlandse Loterij now owns 100% of Lotify. The state lottery operator held the majority since 2021 but completed the buyout this month.

Lotify founder Guy van Iperen sold his remaining stake. He started the digital platform to help sports clubs and charities run compliant fundraising lotteries. The sale follows the original 2021 agreement between both parties.

Arjan Blok serves as CEO of Nederlandse Loterij. The operator brings nearly three centuries of lottery experience to the partnership (they’ve been around since the 1700s). That history matters for organisations needing proven compliance expertise.

Why This Consolidation Makes Sense Now

Sports federations and charities struggle to raise funds through traditional methods. They need new revenue sources but don’t want regulatory headaches that come with running lotteries independently.

Lotify solved that problem by handling everything. The platform manages licensing requirements, technical standards, participant communications, and payout compliance. Organisations get turnkey lottery solutions without the complexity.

Nederlandse Loterij wants to expand these services nationwide. Full ownership lets them use their network and expertise more effectively than the previous majority stake arrangement allowed.

What Changes Under Full Nederlandse Loterij Ownership

The platform stays operational but gets deeper integration with its parent company. Lotify can now tap into the operator’s full knowledge base and industry connections.

Blok told stakeholders the move will strengthen support capabilities. “As a full part of the Dutch Lottery, Lotify can make even better use of our knowledge, our network and our impact,” he said during the announcement. The goal is reaching more organisations that need fundraising tools.

The acquisition extends Nederlandse Loterij’s position in responsible gaming. They’re consolidating their role as both lottery operator and enabler for compliant fundraising across the country.

Van Iperen called it “a natural next step” after their four-year partnership. The transition follows the terms set when the majority stake changed hands back in 2021.

How This Expands Fundraising Options

More Dutch organisations will likely get access to compliant lottery tools. Nederlandse Loterij plans to scale Lotify’s reach beyond its current client base of sports clubs, charities, and event organisers.

Sports clubs need reliable revenue streams. So do charities and event organisers. But setting up compliant lotteries requires navigating Dutch regulatory requirements most organisations don’t have resources to handle.

Lotify removes barriers that previously made lottery fundraising complicated or risky. The platform handles end-to-end management of every stage in the process.

The operator’s established reputation should make adoption easier among potential clients. Nederlandse Loterij has trust built over centuries of operation in the Dutch market.

Blok emphasised the timing matters. “Especially in this day and age they are looking for new ways to raise funds,” he noted about potential partner organisations. The acquisition addresses that need directly.

Dutch authorities require strict lottery compliance standards. Lotify’s infrastructure already meets those requirements, and Nederlandse Loterij’s backing reinforces the platform’s credibility with regulators.
