Matchbook Buys Betdaq Brand 7 Days Before Exchange Closure

Matchbook announced the completed acquisition on October 14. Its betting exchange is operated by Triplebet Limited, while the existing Betdaq gambling service remains under Exchange Platform Solutions Limited (EPS). The financial terms were not disclosed.
Betdaq Customers Must Register Separately With Matchbook
Betdaq’s official closure FAQ gives more detail about the transaction. Triplebet is acquiring the Betdaq brand name and associated domain names. Existing customer accounts and the customer database are excluded.
Betdaq customers will not be moved automatically to Matchbook. Those wishing to continue betting through Matchbook must register separately and complete the required verification checks. Customer information will also remain with Betdaq unless a customer requests a balance transfer.
Matchbook says the acquisition will help bring more liquidity into its exchange, with tighter spreads and larger order fills. However, the two operators have not announced an automatic migration of Betdaq’s existing customer base.
Betting Ends October 21, Account Access November 4
EPS stopped accepting new customer registrations and ordinary deposits on October 14. Betdaq’s exchange remains available for eligible markets until October 21. Other products, including Casino, Virtuals, Sportsbook and Multiples, are being withdrawn during the closure.
After betting ends, customers will have another two weeks to access their accounts. The key dates are:
- October 21 – Betting closes, including access to active markets through trading tools and APIs.
- November 4 – Final day for online account access, statements and withdrawals.
- November 5 – Online login ends. EPS will continue handling outstanding balances through customer support.
There is a separate deadline for older bets. Positions matched before October 14 and due to settle between October 21 and November 30 will still be honoured. Bets matched before October 14 on events concluding after November 30 will be voided, with stakes returned.
By 15M’s count, the November 30 cutoff for honouring eligible bets matched before October 14 falls 26 calendar days after online account access ends.
EPS says it will continue assisting customers with remaining balances after November 4. Customer funds are held in segregated accounts, and the operator aims to process withdrawal requests within one working day, subject to verification.
Matchbook Offers Assistance to Racecourse Bookmakers
Matchbook CEO Ronan McDonagh also addressed the transition in an October 14 message published by the United Council of Racecourse Bookmakers. He acknowledged concerns among on-course bookmakers about disruptions to trading and hedging. Matchbook has offered direct assistance with new accounts and the move to its exchange.
Betdaq was founded by Dermot Desmond in 2000. Matchbook, established in 2004, is now acquiring the older exchange’s brand, although its original operating platform is closing.
Betdaq’s FAQ leaves open the possibility of a future relaunch under Matchbook. No date has been announced. Any new registrations would be handled by Triplebet Limited.
