Light & Wonder signed an agreement with Mecca Bingo to install new gaming technology. The deal covers all 50 Mecca venues across the UK.
Light & Wonder supplies gaming hardware and software to operators worldwide. The company provides terminals and content management systems.
Mecca Bingo operates one of Britain’s major bingo chains. The venues offer traditional bingo alongside electronic gaming machines.
The companies had an existing business relationship before this upgrade. This agreement significantly expands their current arrangement.
Mecca’s existing Clarity terminals had reached the end of their operational life. The venues required modern hardware to handle current gaming demands.
Upcoming regulatory changes also influenced the timing. The company wanted to adopt Light & Wonder’s Videobet platform ahead of new requirements.
The Videobet platform helps operators manage transitions when regulations change. This system provides flexibility for different compliance scenarios.
Mecca plans to continue offering games across B3, B4, and CatC categories. The technology change maintains existing game variety while adding new options.
Revenue performance from initial installations influenced the decision. Early results showed positive trends across test venues.
Light & Wonder installed 850 new Equinox terminals throughout the network. These units completely replaced the legacy Clarity terminals across all locations.
The company also upgraded 645 T8 cabinets with Mk8i hardware. This hardware supports enhanced performance and future content expansion capabilities.
Mecca adopted the Videobet platform as part of the comprehensive agreement. Light & Wonder will continue supplying content across all gaming categories.
The new Equinox terminals offer different technical capabilities than previous equipment. They support various game types while maintaining familiar player interfaces.
Popular existing titles remain available on the new hardware. The system also enables additional content options going forward.
The equipment rollout required coordination across all 50 UK venues. Installation teams handled both new terminal placement and cabinet hardware upgrades.
Iain Graham, Slots Director at Mecca Bingo, said: “We are already seeing a clear uplift in revenue and are excited for what the future holds with Light & Wonder as a trusted collaborator.”
Wayne Ellard, Vice President and Managing Director, EMEA at Light & Wonder, noted the upgrade provides venues with “a strong foundation for the future while improving the player experience across the board.”
Games like Rainbow Riches Blazing Lock are operating on the new equipment. Graham described Light & Wonder’s installation approach as professional with careful attention to operational details.
The agreement establishes Mecca’s technology framework for upcoming regulatory periods. Both companies referenced the partnership’s role in meeting changing compliance requirements.
In May 2025, Light & Wonder finalised its acquisition of Grover Gaming’s charitable assets for $850m, leading to its expansion across regulated verticals in the US.
