Kambi just landed a partnership with Oneida Indian Nation through their business arm, Turning Stone Enterprises. Ray Halbritter runs both as Oneida Indian Nation Representative and Turning Stone Enterprises CEO.
Werner Becher leads Kambi as Group CEO. He’s been busy lately – the Nevada Gaming Control Board recommended him for a gaming license earlier this month.
The deal covers three upstate New York casino properties owned by the tribe. Turning Stone Enterprises handles all of Oneida’s casino and resort operations.
Why Oneida Switched Sportsbook Providers
The tribe’s dumping their current external sports betting supplier for Kambi’s turnkey solution. That suggests they weren’t happy with their existing setup.
“Our collaboration with Kambi marks a major step forward for our sportsbooks,” Halbritter said. He wants “faster, more intuitive ways” for guests to place bets.
For Kambi, this expands their tribal partner network in one of America’s largest sports betting markets. New York’s massive population makes any deal there valuable.
The timing works well for Becher, who’s been building Kambi’s US licensing portfolio. He got Manufacturer & Distributor and Information Services licenses approved in January.
What’s Getting Installed Across Three Properties
Kambi’s deploying new gaming kiosks, point-of-sale terminals and bet builder products at all three locations. The properties are Turning Stone Resort Casino, YBR Casino and Point Place Casino.
It’s a complete replacement of the existing sportsbook infrastructure. Oneida’s going all-in on Kambi’s turnkey platform rather than mixing suppliers.
The bet builder products should give guests more wagering options. That’s become standard for competitive sportsbook operations.
How This Deal Affects Both Companies
Kambi gets deeper penetration in New York’s lucrative market through established tribal properties. “Oneida has a proven track record of offering best-in-class gaming experiences,” Becher noted.
The partnership comes as Kambi posted Q2 2025 revenue of $47.5 million, down 11.5% year-on-year. Landing major tribal deals could help stabilise those numbers.
For Oneida, the switch should improve their sportsbook offering and potentially boost betting revenue. Halbritter expects “an all-new level of excitement” for their sports betting experience.
The deal strengthens Kambi’s tribal relationships nationwide. As Becher put it, they’re “further strengthening our tribal partner network” with established operators.
This also validates Kambi’s US expansion strategy following their Nevada licensing progress. Getting recommended for additional licenses while securing new tribal partnerships shows momentum in their American operations.
