Digitain brought on Alex Jones as its Regional Sales Director for the UK and Western Europe. Jones confirmed the move on LinkedIn last week.
He spent over four years at EveryMatrix in a senior sales position. Before that, he worked as Sales Director at Sportradar. Jones has 18 years of experience across iGaming, sports betting, and media.
His background includes partnership management and product strategy work. But he’s also got time outside gaming at Universal Pictures and Sky.
Why Digitain Wanted This Hire
The supplier is pushing hard into regulated European markets right now. They need someone who knows UK operators and compliance requirements inside out.
Jones brings exactly that. His EveryMatrix experience means he understands platform integration challenges operators face daily. And his Sportradar background gives him sportsbook expertise many suppliers lack.
Digitain clearly values his network too. Four years at a competitor means Jones has relationships with most major UK operators. That’s valuable when you’re trying to grow market share.
What Jones Said About the Switch
Jones posted about leaving EveryMatrix in the coming weeks. He thanked the team there for “all the challenges, experiences and fun” over four years.
Then he announced joining Digitain. “I’m delighted to announce I will be joining Digitain as Regional Sales Director for UK and Western Europe,” Jones wrote. He thanked Ani Mkrtchyan and Iain Hutchison specifically for the opportunity.
Jones ended with “Big things are coming.” That’s pretty standard executive talk, but it signals Digitain has growth plans for these markets.
His role covers both the UK and broader Western Europe. So he’ll handle more than just British operators.
How This Fits Digitain’s Expansion
This isn’t Digitain’s only recent personnel move. Mary Ann Calleja joined as Chief Product Officer back in June. Two senior hires in six months shows they’re building out leadership.
The supplier grabbed its Belgian gaming license in September. That came as part of what they’re calling their European expansion strategy. Then last month they became an Associate Member of European Lotteries.
All of this points to Digitain making a serious play for regulated European markets. Belgium, UK focus, lottery connections, they’re checking boxes for credibility in strict jurisdictions.
Jones will need to convert that momentum into actual operator deals. But with his background and Digitain’s recent licensing wins, he’s got decent tools to work with.
The timing makes sense too. UK operators are always looking for platform alternatives, especially after recent regulatory pressure on existing suppliers.
