The new version is already live with several operators in Latin America, according to SBC News. ChatBet says the system does not replace the back-end platform and sits on top of an operator’s existing sportsbook setup.
WhatsApp Becomes the Betting Front Door
Many sportsbooks already have trading, account, payment, and compliance systems in place. ChatBet is pitching its product as an interface layer. It adds a chat-based route to the same betting environment.
A user can type or record a request inside WhatsApp. The AI then interprets the request, maps the teams, markets, odds, and available bonuses, and creates a structured betslip. The bet is validated against the operator’s live sportsbook before the user sees the final confirmation.
AI Bookie Targets Local Language
The ChatBet software relies on natural language processing. The system is able to recognize slang, nicknames, and regional football terms. For instance, a user may mention Real Madrid by a local nickname, and the system should match the message with the correct team.
SBC cited estimates that WhatsApp penetration reaches at least 75% in markets such as Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Peru, and Colombia. Data on WhatsApp use also shows that Argentina and Colombia have high adoption rates, with Infobip listing Argentina at 80% penetration and Colombia at 75%
For many users, WhatsApp already handles daily contact with family, friends, and businesses. Bookmakers are now trying to get closer to that routine.
Early Results Are Company-Reported
According to ChatBet, the first weeks of version three saw a two-times uplift in client conversion rates and a 22% rise in average revenue per user. However, since these are early company-provided figures, they should be treated as performance claims, not as independent market data.
Still, these figures can provide insight into why operators might be interested in such solutions. Applications can take time to download. Mobile sites may sometimes cause friction. A chat flow, in turn, could cut down on the number of actions required to place a bet.
The ChatBet product also gives operators an alternative avenue for retention. Having a betting option on WhatsApp enables sportsbooks to merge ad exposure, user conversation, and bet confirmation all within one process.
Interface Competition Moves Into Sportsbooks
ChatBet’s launch could highlight an emerging trend in sportsbook technology. Seen from this perspective, the next challenge might be around making the action easier to complete.
At the same time, bet placement via chats should still adhere to regulatory requirements. Without showing proof that AI-created betslips are checked and recorded, operators may face questions from regulators.
