Brazil iGaming Data Signals Wider Player Base in 2026
Brazil’s regulated iGaming market is moving into a new phase. Fresh sector data points to a broader audience, stronger alternative game categories, and higher pressure on operators to retain players.

Brazil’s online gaming industry started off 2026 with more data to work with compared to before its regulation. According to industry data cited by BNLData, registered accounts on online gaming platforms now exceed 50 million. Official 2025 data counted 25.2 million Brazilians who placed bets with licensed companies. Meanwhile, the conversion rate from casual players to recurring users is around 40%.

Brazil’s Market Moves Past First-Year Hype

Official stats provide additional perspective. According to the Brazilian Secretariat of Prizes and Bets, Brazil’s licensed online betting sector generated BRL37 billion in GGR in 2025. The licensees also contributed BRL2.5 billion in licensing fees, and federal tax revenue from the industry was almost BRL10 billion.

The key message is no longer only volume. Brazil now has enough player and revenue data to show where the market is gaining structure and where new risks may appear.

Demographics Are Starting to Shift

Brazilian betting is still very much dominated by football, but the audience is wider than the early football-led base. According to the sector data cited by BNLData, people between 35 and 54 years old make up 38% of active online gaming users. The highest portion is represented by people aged 25 to 44, accounting for nearly 70%.

The licensed market statistics for 2025 from SPA indicated the same trend. The regulator noted that 25.2 million people placed bets with licensed entities in Brazil that year. Male participants represented 68.3%, whereas females were 31.7%. The largest share among age groups was people aged 31 to 40, totaling 28.6%.

These numbers alter the product challenge. Operators that initially focused their campaigns on young male football fans now appear to need stronger casino and bingo products, as well as retention tools.

New Game Categories Gain Ground

In Brazil, football also dominates sports prediction volume, commanding a share of 85.7% according to industry data. Such dominance gives operators scale, but it also leaves them vulnerable to seasonal effects.

The nontraditional categories are becoming more difficult to overlook. For instance, eSports and crash games are among the fastest-growing segments. At the same time, online bingo is reported to have increased by 35% from 2025 to 2026. Bingo also has a predominantly female user base, where women make up over 60% of active players.

This is one of the key takeaways that operators must consider. A business strategy focused solely on football sponsorships and event days may look strong during busy fixtures, but not during off-peak times.

The Next Test Is Retention

The iGaming industry in Brazil has already proven its ability to lure in users, tax revenue, and business events. For example, BiS SiGMA South America 2026 gathered around 15,800 participants in the city of São Paulo, indicating the rapid development of the ecosystem surrounding the market.

The upcoming steps will likely not be so generous. Operators will have to convert large registration numbers into actual, compliant, and loyal clients. As the market moves from acquisition to execution, product depth and safer player controls will help decide who keeps share.
