1win Search Demand Rises 341%, Melbet 349% After Brazil Betting Ban

1win Search Demand Rises 341%, Melbet 349% After Brazil Betting Ban
1win's average daily search demand in Brazil rose 341% after the September 25 betting ban. Melbet gained 349%, but the offshore segment as a whole grew only 15%, according to new data from Blask.

The Blask analysis, published October 12, compares average daily search demand from September 1-24 with September 26-October 11. The day the ban was published is excluded.

1win Overtakes Brabet in Offshore Search

Before the ban, Brabet was the largest offshore brand in the Brazilian search data. The second period brought several changes:

  • 1win: +341%, moving into first place;
  • Melbet: +349%, from a smaller starting level;
  • Bingo Em Casa: +235%;
  • Brabet: −29%, losing its previous lead.

The three growing brands accounted for about twice the offshore segment’s net increase. Demand for other offshore operators fell during the same period.

1win also added more Index points than Melbet and Bingo Em Casa combined. The percentage changes alone do not show this difference, since the brands started from different levels.

Offshore Share Reaches 16.9% Despite Limited Growth

The offshore segment’s share of branded betting searches increased from 3.9% to 16.9% between the two periods. That is a gain of 13 percentage points.

Its actual search Index, however, increased only 15%. Licensed brands lost 77% of their average daily demand.

A calculation by 15M shows the scale of the difference. If total branded search demand before the ban is set at 100 points, offshore brands account for 3.9 points and licensed operators for 96.1.

Applying Blask’s reported changes gives approximately 4.5 points for offshore brands and 22.1 for licensed operators in the second period. The combined total falls to about 26.6 points, a 73.4% decline from the earlier average.

Six Days of Search After Licensed Sites Closed

Brazil’s September 25 measure stopped new betting deposits immediately. Licensed betting websites had until October 6 to go offline.

Blask’s September 26-October 11 comparison therefore includes ten days before the shutdown and six days afterward. On October 11, offshore brands accounted for 29.3% of search demand, compared with 16.9% across the full post-ban period.
