Why This Entry Looks Different

Greece cannot easily be considered an experimental destination for gambling operators. The Hellenic Gaming Commission maintains an official white list of licensed providers, so market entry in the country relies on regulatory approval. According to industry reports based on HGC data, Superbet received online casino approval even before its sports betting license became effective in February 2026. That allowed the company to enter both main verticals from the outset.

Trade reporting highlights Greece as the sixth country where Superbet is active, and this entry appears to be part of a larger expansion across European regulated markets. The Greek launch, therefore, is one of the steps towards regional growth, already undertaken by the company.

Football Followed Almost Immediately

The fast-paced nature of the sports marketing effort that came after the launch gives it extra weight. In less than a week, Fourniadis said that Superbet.gr had become the main shirt sponsor of Panathinaikos, and the club itself confirmed a deal extending through 2029. PAOK then announced its own three-year agreement with Superbet, giving the company immediate visibility in Greek football.

Licences in place, both core online verticals ready, and football sponsorships secured within days of launch make Superbet’s launch notable. Given the regulatory nature of the market and the costs associated with gaining exposure, this strategy could help the company build awareness and competitive positioning faster.
