The New Hampshire Lottery announced that sports betting sent $39 million to public education during fiscal year 2025. This broke the state’s previous record of $37 million from FY2023.
Players placed over 27 million wagers worth more than $815 million. Both figures jumped nearly 9% from the previous year. The growth shows consistent momentum in the state’s controlled betting market.
“We are extremely proud to have delivered a record amount of funding to support public education,” said Charlie McIntyre, the lottery’s executive director. He added that maximizing revenue for students, teachers and schools drives the organization daily.
The lottery operates as the state’s exclusive sports betting overseer. This centralised approach has proven effective for revenue generation.
Why New Hampshire Stands Out
The state now ranks third nationally for per-capita sports betting revenue directed to state funds. That’s impressive performance for a relatively small market with limited operators.
November 2024 produced the state’s biggest monthly mobile handle at over $75 million. This single month generated $4.5 million for education alone. The timing coincided with peak NFL and early college basketball seasons.
The Super Bowl and March Madness dominated single-event betting. These two tournaments combined for $27.5 million in total wagers during FY2025.
Major sporting events consistently drive the highest betting volumes. But regular season action provides steady baseline revenue throughout the year.
What the Numbers Show Since Launch
New Hampshire launched sports betting in 2019. Since then, players have placed 107 million wagers totaling nearly $4 billion.
The cumulative education funding now exceeds $153 million. That’s significant money flowing directly into classrooms and schools across the state.
The growth trajectory remains strong year after year. Both betting volume and total handle increased at healthy rates compared to FY2024. This consistency suggests a mature, stable market.
How the Market Operates and Grows
Sports betting runs through one exclusive mobile operator plus five retail locations. The Nash Casino recently added a new sportsbook that should boost retail activity.
Live betting options could drive future growth. The lottery sees potential for increased uptake of in-game wagering features. These allow bets during active gameplay.
Retail expansion also presents opportunities. More physical locations might attract bettors who prefer in-person wagering over mobile apps.
The state’s focused approach seems to be working well. Rather than flooding the market with multiple operators, New Hampshire maintains controlled growth while maximising education benefits. This strategy has delivered consistent results since launch.
